"I usually don't recommend books after reading only nine pages but it just so happens that in this brief amount of time, I've already learned some things that have far outweighed the $19.95 price of the book 'a hundred times over.' (Actually, since writing this, I've read much more and am loving it.)

"In 'Conflict Unraveled', author Andra Medea, who developed this wisdom teaching conflict management at various well-known universities, offers expert advice for solving problems and being more effective both at work and at home. 

"Early in the book she discusses the concept of 'flooding', an adrenalin overload that basically shorts out most of the higher parts of the brain and leaves people acting irrational, defensive or quarrelsome. As she provided examples I had numerous 'aha's', reminded both of difficult people I've dealt with and, I'm embarrassed to say, myself on some occasions.

"Ms. Medea's explanations and methods of identifying flooding in others and in ourselves and, just as importantly, her solutions to such are - in my opinion - relationship-saving, both in your work and family life."
